Alexa Harris-Ralff is a New Jersey-based interior designer and the founder of AHR Designs. A home should feel like the people who live there. Each project is an opportunity to create something new and beautiful- the possibilities are endless! Alexa works with each customer to determine the best way to optimize their resources. She prides herself on listening to her clients so that each room is designed for the way they live.
Do I ever get tired of blue? The thing about using a color that everyone loves and can agree on is that you have to continually find new ways to use it. If you know me, you know I love a challenge! My clients, a busy family with 4 kids spanning ages 6-16, needed a house that could accommodate their needs. The paint wasn't even dry on my client's beach house project when they approached me to tackle their next big move-a head to toe gut reno of a historic suburban colonial.
My clients are superstars both with demanding jobs, 3 children, a dog and had no time to waste as the contractor needed to make some decisions immediately.

Services
Alexa has been designing interiors professionally since 2010.
Her love of color and layers of pattern is present in every project she touches.
The details of flow, function, and durability are central to her designs.
She gets to know her clients with a deep dive into how they really live.
Where will you place a cup of coffee when seated in that cozy chair?
Will anyone realistically tend to the wine stain on the marble if you're not home?
Shoes on in the house?
Dog allowed on the furniture?
You get the picture.

I always advise my clients to start and complete one room.
If you have some money to spend you'll never feel satisfied if you spread the money across several rooms.
It's a recipe for disappointment.
We will walk through your project wish list and I will weigh in with all my preliminary thoughts and opinions.
This is the kick-off to our relationship.
So many options and they are all so permanent!
I can help determine your privacy, light and decorative needs so you do this once and do it right.
How can I make grandmas chair "work" in this space?

My clients, a busy family with 4 kids spanning ages 6-16, needed a house that could accommodate their needs.
The only catch, finding this in Hoboken, NJ is no easy feat.
I toured many properties as they came to market with them to see what we could make work.
When this brownstone became available, we were all smiles.

We worked with Norwood Window Company to recreate ALL of the original windows and integrate the new windows on the additional footprint.
The original built-ins on the landing were old and tired but beautiful in their form.

Usually, I'm nudging my clients to make bolder moves, in the case of this project they pushed me (in the very best way)!
This victorian home was long overdue for a kitchen gut reno and this growing family needed more living space to hang out in and entertain.
The architects did a magnificent job of opening the space and preserving a hidden back staircase beautifully.
My clients wanted every bell and whistle in this kitchen.
Water filters, stand-alone ice makers, mitered countertops (the thicker the better), top of the line quartzite and brass accents.
